Piano lessons
Piano lessons:
I design individual programs for each student according to his or her goals, needs and personal characteristics. My teaching style is oriented towards developing the musical talent of each student as well as his or her love for music.
Weekly lessons:
Each lesson will start with a warm-up, which would consist of piano exercises. After that we would go over the past week's assignment. We will work on assigned pieces. We will do a music theory exercise. We will start learning a new piece. Student might expect to have several pieces of various styles (or preferred style, if desired) at a time in their repertoire. Memorization, sightreading, improvisation, ear training, working on piano technique, and more, will be also incorporated.
Piano books/materials:
I use Faber and Faber piano series for beginner-intermediate students and extensively supplement with various other materials to meet each student's individual needs and goals. I also use individual approach with advanced students exposing them to wide variety of piano literature.
Practice expectations:
I help each student develop positive practice habits in which consistency is the key.
Instrument:
Students are encouraged to have a piano or a keyboard for practicing at home. If you don't have an instrument at home, you can still start piano lessons, and get an instrument later on.
Parents/Guardians:
Parents and Guardians are welcome to stay for a lesson, wait in the waiting area, or drop-off a student.
Recitals:
Piano recitals are held twice a year (Fall and Spring). They give a great opportunity for students to show off their wonderful talents, to practice performing in front of the audience, and for the families to admire and enjoy. Participation in recitals is highly encouraged, though optional.
